About Blacksmith
Is Blacksmith gear made in Australia?
Yep. Our gear is designed and made by our small team in South Australia. We use Australian-made canvas and PVC wherever possible. Our Australian canvas is made using Australian-grown cotton, while specialist components such as YKK zips are sourced internationally when they’re the best option for the job. Learn more about our materials.
Where are you located?
Our workshop is located at:
2/32 Woodlands Terrace
Edwardstown SA
If you’re planning to visit, it’s worth contacting us first to make sure someone is available to help.
Do you make custom bags or sizes?
Our workshop is generally focused on producing the existing Blacksmith range, so we can’t promise one-off custom work. That said, you’re welcome to send us your idea. Customer suggestions have helped shape plenty of our gear over the years.
Can I buy Blacksmith gear anywhere else?
Yes, but it's limited. We've partnered with Snowys Outdoors - so you can buy our gear in their stores (SA & QLD).
Choosing the right gear
What size Wheel Bag do I need?
Measure the outside diameter of your spare tyre from bottom to top, running the tape through the centre of the wheel.
| Wheel Bag size | Tyre diameter | Capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 26–28 inches | 50L |
| Medium | 28–32 inches | 57L |
| Large | 31–35 inches | 70L |
| XL | 37 inches | 70L |
The measurement refers to the outside diameter of the whole tyre, not the wheel rim.
View the complete Wheel Bag Size Guide.
What if my tyre fits two Wheel Bag sizes?
There’s some intentional overlap between the sizes. If your tyre falls within that overlap, the smaller option will generally provide a tighter fit and help prevent the bag from sagging. If you’re still unsure, send us:
- The outside diameter of your mounted spare
- The tyre size printed on the sidewall
- Your vehicle make and model
- A photo of the rear of your vehicle
We’d rather help you check properly than have you take a punt.
How much weight can I carry in a Wheel Bag?
We recommend carrying no more than 5kg in our Australian Made 4WD Wheel Bag. It’s well suited to rubbish, recycling, wet clothes, muddy boots and a light load of firewood.
What if I don’t have a rear-mounted spare tyre?
Our Australian Made Tailgate Bag may be a better option for suitable utes and trucks. Before ordering, check that you have enough mounting space and that the bag won’t obstruct your number plate, lights, cameras or handles.
Will the accessories shown in product photos be included?
Unless the product description specifically says otherwise, the tools, appliances, camping gear and other props shown in our photos aren’t included.

Warranty
What warranty does Blacksmith gear include?
Our gear is covered by a three-year warranty from the purchase date when used under normal conditions and for its intended purpose. The warranty covers faults in materials and workmanship. It doesn’t cover:
- Normal wear and tear
- Unreasonable use or neglect
- Damage caused by overloading
- Change of mind
- Using the product for something it wasn’t designed to do
The warranty operates alongside your rights under Australian consumer law. Read our complete warranty information.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Email service@blacksmithcamping.com with:
- Your order or proof-of-purchase details
- A description of the issue
- Clear photographs showing the fault or damage
Photos help us assess the claim and get things moving faster.
Looking after your gear
How should I clean my Blacksmith bag?
For everyday cleaning:
- Empty the bag and shake out any loose dirt.
- Brush dry dirt from the canvas.
- Wipe the canvas and PVC with a damp cloth.
- Use a small amount of mild soapy water where needed.
- Allow the bag to air-dry completely before storing it.
Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, pressure washing and machine washing.
Can I store the bag while it’s wet?
We wouldn’t recommend it. Allow the bag to dry completely before packing it away to help prevent mould, mildew and unwanted smells.
Can I overload the bag?
Our gear is built tough, but it still pays to treat it properly. Avoid over-packing, carrying excessive weight or placing unnecessary strain on zips, buckles, handles and mounting straps. If you look after your Blacksmith gear, it’ll look after you.
